We're taking the final bookings for our next Members’ Networking Event in London on 10 July 2025. It is a free event with food and drinks. The next Gas Protection Verification Accreditation Scheme (GPVS) application window opens 1 June 2025 and closes 31 August 2025. The application window is open to Technician Grade and Specialist Grade applicants. Further information is available here.

Sustainathon 2025 has now been launched. This is a 17 hour global marathon dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, Sustainathon 2025 will dedicate an hour to each SDG. The event will be hosted 24-25 September 2025, 14:00 - 24:00 (24 September) and 07:00 - 14:00 (25 September) CEST. If you are interested in being a speaker, please complete the form, advising your interest in which SDG you would like to speak about. This information will then be used to develop the programme.

Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has announced simpler and more streamlined planning for smaller housebuilders. Further information is available here.

Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) is seeking views on the implementation of biodiversity net gain (BNG) for nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs). The government is introducing BNG for NSIPs from May 2026. This will provide a clear framework to ensure new major infrastructure development leaves biodiversity in a measurably better state than before development took place. Further information is available here. The consultation closes on 24 July 2025.

The government has published a consultation on reform of Landfill Tax. The consultation seeks views on proposals aimed at supporting the government's ambition to transition to a more circular economy, simplifying the tax and reducing opportunities for error and non-compliance, and cracking down on waste crime.
